Overview
I am looking for a personable carer for my son who is 38 years old and suffers from cerebral palsy. He is a good communicator with a great sense of humour and is passionate about football and loves to participate with friends playing pool and dominoes. He needs to be warm at all times and cannot be outside in very windy weather, needing someone to link arms with to keep his stability when out walking, as likes to go walking along the piers locally.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care as needed (e.g., general hand and foot care, shaving and assistance to the barber at least once every 6 weeks).
* Support and accompany him during activities such as walking to piers, or social activities with friends.
* Assist with home exercises to help strengthen and maintain muscle health.
* Be warm, patient, and able to provide stability outdoors (e.g., linking arms when walking in windy conditions).
* Possess a valid driving license and ideally live near Whitburn.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Driver’s license (essential).
* Experience with cerebral palsy or caring for adults with mobility needs preferred.
* DBS check required.
* Eligibility to work in the UK at start date.
Additional Information
Hours to be arranged mutually with both parties. The successful applicant will need to get on well with Roger, our rescue cat.
