Amazon seeks a Senior Payroll Manager to lead EMEA Payroll for Amazon employees in Bratislava/Prague. We are looking for a strong, strategic leader with excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will lead several teams. The role is a fantastic opportunity for a leader who wants to raise the bar for the payroll team, be at the center of it all, and set the team up for success. This role is part of the Global Management Team and has exposure to all of the international payroll team. It is critical to Amazon’s ongoing success that we provide the highest service to our employees. Our mission statement is “Pay Employees accurately and on time with the highest level of controllership and compliance, at the lowest cost to Amazon”.Other areas of responsibility: projects, Six Sigma (Greenbelt and Kaizen), new country implementations, M&A activities, budget and operational expense responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to build the teams and make a difference. This is a high profile area within Amazon and requires a manager with the ability to identify and prioritize business critical risks. You will lead and develop teams, including hiring, training and employee development; managing group workload and establishing priorities; ensuring adherence to existing policies and procedures; managing annual performance targets and operating budget; creating and monitoring appropriate performance metrics.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage the centralized periodic payroll preparation/processing for thousands of employees across multiple locations in the EMEA region
- Support related tax reporting, benefits-records administration and payroll system maintenance
- Manage a team of payroll managers, analysts and payroll vendors
- Ability to clearly define roles and responsibilities for the different team members
- Build, inspire and motivate the teams to raise the bar
- Liaise with key business partners throughout the EMEA region to coordinate/communicate processes, calendars and other activities related to the payroll process
- Implement and monitor internal controls over input and output data of the Payroll systems
- Coordinate cash funding process with vendors and Treasury
- Implement Green Belt and Kaizen projects
- Implement new systems or incorporate new locations as growth or acquisitions occur
- Work with Senior Management partners on special projects as needed
- Manage a team to provide the best employee to employee customer service, including monitoring performance for key metrics
- Develop a professional payroll function which is scalable & flexible to meet the company needs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven international payroll experience and people management
- SOX compliance experience
- Deep knowledge of payroll and local legislation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
- A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
- Experience running operations with high volume of transactional inputs and outputs
- Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical skills to identify potential impact and implications of issues and takes appropriate action to avoid future recurrences
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in English and Italian
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA, CMA or CPP
- Private/Public Accounting mix preferred with direct finance experience in a large organization
- Strong knowledge of ERP functionalities and capabilities
- Kaizen leader or Greenbelt certification
- Willingness to travel, domestic and international (50%)
