Job Purpose
Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Leeds office.
Salary: £90,000 - £120,000

About Our Role
Our Portfolio Management (PM) team oversees the NWF's growing portfolio of loans, guarantees, and equity assets in five priority sectors: clean energy, transport, digital, water, and waste. The PM team provides guidance and portfolio input into the Risk function and influences NWF's pipeline of new transactions to deliver positive financial returns. The team is fundamental to NWF achieving its mission of investing profitably to reduce UK carbon emissions and promote local economic growth.
The Assistant Director will provide leadership to the PM team and act as an ambassador for NWF's missions of regional growth and the Net Zero transition.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor project progress, engage with sponsors and fund managers, identify risks, and implement mitigation actions.
* Build and interrogate internal and external financial models and conduct sensitivity analyses.
* Analyze complex qualitative and quantitative information to recommend actions aligned with NWF’s mission.
* Conduct site visits, inspect project progress, and assess management effectiveness.
* Negotiate waivers, consents, and documentation to protect NWF interests.
* Contribute to reports for Investment and Credit Committees regarding project risks and pricing.
* Contribute to the design and implementation of NWF’s Portfolio Management system.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Established portfolio management skills, especially in infrastructure.
* Commercial expertise with high accountability for high-value projects.
* Relevant sector experience in energy, transport, or social infrastructure sectors.
* External counter-party management skills.
* Debt experience in banking or project finance, including structuring and monitoring loans.
* Experience with NWF products such as fixed/floating loans and guarantees.
* Experience in equity investments is an advantage.
