We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wrap Around Care Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care and supervision to our children during before and after-school hours ensuring a positive start and end of their school day. Duties will include organising and delivering engaging activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, preparing and serving healthy snacks and light meals.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support and care for the children who attend wrap around care at Great Missenden C of E Primary School; ensuring children have a positive start and finish to their day at school.
* Be part of a team providing a safe and stimulating environment for the children with appropriate play opportunities, planned activities and healthy food.
* Assist the Club Lead as appropriate to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of the club including:
* Ensuring the safe arrival of children and delivery to carers at the beginning and end of the club sessions.
* Ensure arrival and departure of children is recorded and monitored on the registers including School Gateway/Arbor as appropriate and in line with our wider school arrival and end of day processes.
* Set up the room for daily activities and aid with the care and cleanliness of the room and equipment, tidying the room at the end of the day.
* Help plan and deliver safe, creative, appropriate activities in a fun and caring environment.
* Prepare and serve snacks and food for the children ensuring that hygiene, health and safety measures are met.
* Promote healthy eating and lifestyle.
* Positively manage children's behaviour and act in a responsible manner and role model at all times.
* Keep children safe and minimise risks in the wrap around care environment.
* Administer and record first aid as appropriate.
* Be aware and apply the school's policies and procedures.
* Participate in appropriate school-based meetings and training activities within contracted hours.
* Support the school by adhering closely to policies and procedures and being a good role model of the school's vision and values.
* Be professional at all times.
* Adhere to the school's safeguarding procedures and attend relevant child protection training when required.
* Enact health and safety requirements and initiatives as directed.
* Ensure compliance with GDPR legislation.
* Operate within the school's Equal Opportunities framework at all times.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties or requests as determined from time to time by the Headteacher.
Skills, Aptitude, Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of working with children in a play, childcare or out of school setting.
* Excellent communication skills with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
* Good organisational, record keeping and planning skills.
* A positive approach to inclusive practice with children and colleagues.
* Professionally discrete and able to respect confidentiality at all times.
* Commitment to the school values & ethos.
* Experience of preparing and serving healthy food in a child-based setting.
* Experience of planning and delivering creative, enjoyable and age-appropriate activities for children in the age range 3 to 11 years.

Qualifications

* Completion of a Safeguarding Awareness Course.
