Principal Clinical Psychologist, Memory Assessment and Treatment Service, Wigan working as part of the MDT.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide supervision and oversight of the work of junior psychologists. They will supervise trainees on placement.
They will offer expert specialist neuropsychological assessment to highly complex cases referred to the MATS on a regular basis, and to other clinical psychologists in other older adult services in Wigan on an ad-hoc basis as required. Other duties will include teaching, training, supervision of staff, service development, and audit and research relevant to the needs of the service. The postholder will provide advice and support to other staff regarding the evidence base and formulations concerning memory assessment and dementia diagnosis. In some cases, they will advise on potential suitable interventions.
The post holder will work closely with the Wigan Psychology lead, providing line management and clinical supervision to older adult psychologists as required.
The post holder will use their specialist expertise in clinical neuropsychology and dementia treatments to develop and evaluate new evidence-based services in memory assessment or psychological treatments for dementia or high-risk individuals. They will advise the Wigan Psychology lead on governance matters related to memory assessment within the Older Adult Psychology resource.

Working hours include Saturday (midnight to midnight), any weekday after 8pm and before 6am, and all time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight).

Person Specification
* HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with a postgraduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained before 1996), accredited by the BPS.
* Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology.
* Relevant academic qualifications at master's or doctoral level.
* Completion of modules in Accredited Doctoral Clinical/Counselling Psychology Course, including supervision training (approx 30 hours), and/or successful supervision of trainees.
* Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology recognized by the BPS.
* Training in Leadership and Management.
* Significant experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist in a Later Life or Memory Assessment service, including assessment, treatment, risk assessment, supervision, teaching, and training.
* Experience working with NHS managers, professionals, and agencies; working within a team; developing and evaluating services; managing junior staff; publishing peer-reviewed work; working with families and carers; and within a multicultural framework.
* Research experience relevant to older adult services.
