Capital Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Capital Accountant to join a large national charity on a temporary basis. You will play a key role in supporting the finance team with a specific new fixed asset module and will be dealing with extremely large data sets and will be carrying out several reconciliations. The Organisation are looking for someone with advanced Excel skills and extensive experience dealing with large, complex fixed asset registers. The role will be outside of ir35.
Key Responsibilities
* Support with the data migration as a result of a new Fixed Asset Register module
* Lead the migration of a large and complex Fixed Asset Register, including data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and validation to ensure high-quality data before system upload
* Conduct detailed line-by-line reviews of asset records—covering acquisition dates, categories, cost values, depreciation settings and disposal details—to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Reconcile asset balances across multiple financial years, verifying opening positions, additions, disposals, and depreciation movements against legacy systems and financial statements
* Identify data discrepancies or gaps by analysing historical transactions and supporting documentation, and work proactively to resolve issues to enhance overall data integrity.
* Collaborate closely with the finance team and system implementation partners to clarify requirements, resolve queries, and support a smooth transition to the new Fixed Asset module
* Contribute to the development of process documentation, data standards, and control improvements to strengthen future fixed asset management and reporting
* Work closely with the investment properties reflecting this in the FAR
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA)
* Experience of working on a large Fixed Asset Register in a large Organisation
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to deal with large data sets
Location: Central London
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week on site
Day Rate: £450 - £500 per day (outside ir35)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Contract: 6-month initial contract, with potential extension
