The Learning Disability Service provided by Dumfries and Galloway’s Health & Social Care Partnership supports young people and adults with various needs, including learning/physical disabilities and autism spectrum conditions.
Dunmuir Park offers long-term care and support to adults living in their own homes within a modern, purpose-built development in Castle Douglas. As a Support Co-Ordinator, you will be part of a team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centered services, prioritizing Health & Social Care Standards. You will serve as a Key Worker, coordinating care and support within people's homes, facilitating access to community opportunities to develop skills, promote independence, and enhance health and wellbeing, including participation in adult learning and work-related activities. Reporting to a Senior Support Co-Ordinator, your responsibilities include providing direct care and support, contributing to personal planning and reviews, team meetings, and maintaining electronic records. You will also support and supervise Link Workers.
This position involves working 24 hours per week across 52.14 weeks per year. Some evening, weekend, and sleep-in shifts may be necessary. We promote staff wellbeing and offer flexible working patterns, including weekend on/off schedules, to support work/life balance.
You must hold an SVQ Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent (Band 7). If you do not yet have this qualification but meet other essential criteria, you may be eligible for an entry-level position at Band 6 (£15.52/hour) while completing the necessary qualification. You will receive ongoing supervision and professional development opportunities, including training.
Applicants should have some experience, paid or unpaid, working with people with additional support needs, such as disabilities, mental health conditions, or supporting older adults. Experience in assessment and recording is desirable. You should be a team player, committed to supporting individuals to lead fulfilling lives, proficient with basic computer applications, well-organized, flexible, and sensitive to others' needs.
A valid driving license is essential for this role. Consideration will be given to those with disabilities precluding driving if alternative transport arrangements can be made.
This role is regulated work with Protected Adults under the PVG Scheme, and successful candidates will need to join or update their PVG scheme prior to employment. Applicants with recent residence outside the UK will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities.
