Job Overview
The post-holder is responsible for assisting in the provision of the mortuary service Trust wide; there are three mortuaries within the Trust located at Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals. Work in this area requires frequent exposure to highly distressing and emotive situations in addition to periods of intense physical activity with the need to maintain concentration for long periods. The post-holder will ensure that resources are used optimally and that documentation and records are created accurately and kept appropriately and will carry out duties to support the efficient running of the mortuaries. There will be rotation of duties with the mortuary staff across all sites according to operational requirements.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that the deceased and their relatives are treated at all times with dignity and respect.
* Perform a broad range of technical work activities ensuring provision of an efficient service in accordance with Trust, Coroner's and Department of Health regulations and professional responsibility.
* Manage and operate the mortuary service at LNWH NHS Trust, ensuring its efficient functioning.
* Demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, and timely decision‑making to support seamless operation of the service.
* Communicate with the Pathology service manager and GM and attend meetings as necessary to represent the department and provide specialist advice and information.
* Build and maintain good working relationships with staff within the Trust, the Coroner's Office, funeral directors, Police and members of the public.
Qualifications
* Previous significant experience in a mortuary setting is necessary.
* Appropriate training will be offered depending on experience; the role is developmental in nature.

Must work in line with Governance and data protection protocols and ensure confidentiality is always maintained at all times.
