1:1 Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Barnet Full-time | Immediate Start | Long-Term Opportunity Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support young people in secondary schools with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in the London Borough of Barnet. These full-time position offer an immediate start and the potential to become a long-term or permanent role for the right candidates. The Role: As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide focused support to a student who requires additional help to access learning and manage their emotional wellbeing. Your role will involve working alongside educators and support staff to ensure a consistent, individualised approach that meets both academic and pastoral needs. Key responsibilities include: Delivering 1:1 support to a student with SEMH needs in a structured setting Supporting engagement, motivation, and appropriate classroom behaviour Helping to adapt learning resources to suit the student's ability and needs Recording and monitoring progress and behaviour Liaising with staff, SEN professionals, and families to ensure joined-up support The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs A calm, patient and resilient approach to managing challenging situations Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Why Join Tradewind?
