📍 Location: Craigavon Hospital
⏱ Hours: 25+ per week | As & When (flexible, short‑notice cover)
💼 Contract: Maternity Cover – Relief
🗓 Shifts: Days, nights, evenings, weekends, bank holidays
💷 Pay Rates
1. Standard: £12.51 per hour
2. Unsocial Hours (after 8pm Mon-Fri & all day Saturday): £17.64 per hour
3. Sunday Rate: £22.90 per hour
📝 About the Role
We are recruiting an As & When Switchboard Operator to support our public sector client within the busy hospital switchboard at Craigavon Hospital. This is a vital operational role requiring excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure and at short notice.
📞 Key Duties
4. Operate the Trust telephone systems promptly, efficiently, and professionally
5. Prioritise responsibilities, especially during emergencies or system failures
6. Operate the Trust’s internal/external paging systems and communication platforms
7. Handle emergency calls, including cardiac arrests, maternity emergencies, and major incidents
8. Monitor estates alarm boards and report faults or alarms appropriately
9. Participate in live exercise drills for all emergency response teams
✔️ What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be able to:
10. Work on an As & When basis with short‑notice availability
11. Work any shift pattern across all 365 days, including nights and weekends
12. Commit to working evenings and every other weekend
13. Ideally have access to their own transport
14. Be reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing service demands
🎓 Essential Criteria
Candidates must meet one of the following routes:
15. 5 GCSEs, including English & Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent)AND
16. 1 year’s experience working in an administrative role
OR
17. 2 years’ administration experience
Additional Essential Requirement
18. Experience operating a busy switchboard
