An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Haematologist to support the services provided by NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The successful candidate will work closely alongside two existing substantive consultants in our new purpose-built facility at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, providing a Haematology service to the local population.
The department provides comprehensive Clinical and Laboratory Haematology with the potential to develop sub-speciality interests. The successful applicant will have training and experience in Haematology, with expertise in Haemato-Oncology, and will have the opportunity to develop in a preferred specialist area.
It is an exciting time in Dumfries and Galloway as the new District General Hospital opened in December 2017. The hospital, based on the western outskirts of the town, ensures NHS Dumfries and Galloway staff can continue to provide high-quality clinical care in a modern environment.
The region offers beautiful countryside, including rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, forests, hills, and plains. Activities include water sports, fishing, birdwatching, golf, mountain biking, and cycling along rural roads. House prices are low, schools are good, and you are within 2 hours of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lake District, and Newcastle.
Applicants must either be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST at the time of interview.
The post is full-time (10 PAs, 9 DCC, 1 SPA). Candidates unable to work full-time for personal reasons may be considered for a less than full-time contract.
