CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time
DEPARTMENT: BBC Sounds
LOCATION: Either London / Salford - Hybrid (3 days in the office)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £67,000 - £80,000 (plus London weighting if London based) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Join BBC Sounds' content strategy and management teams in a role shaping the future of on-demand and visualised audio at the BBC. As Editorial Executive, you'll task manage a high-performing team, lead key content initiatives, manage commissioning budgets, decisions and relationships as well as supporting Head of Content on setting a market-leading content strategy across a multi-genre slate. This will require working closely with senior editorial stakeholders (Directors, heads of station, commissioning editors, production leads) and central teams (business affairs, marketing, curation, discovery) to deliver high impact content for all audiences.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Deputise for Head of Content and co-lead content planning and delivery of our on-demand slate, with a specific focus on bringing in new audiences.
Manage editorial strategy and on-demand audio activity across genres such as News, driving innovation, bringing together teams across BBC with shared accountability for platform growth.
Influence cross-team ways of working and build collaborative working culture in the on-demand audio space.
Use data and audience insights to guide editorial decisions across content output and operational decisions (budget/resource allocation).
Support BBC Studios on ambitions to grow global reach and revenue from our content slate.
Work with BBC Sounds Director on a range of projects.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Proven experience as an editorial or strategic leader at a media organisation.
Deep understanding of audio landscape, podcast market and streaming trends.
Strong creative instincts and understanding of production as well as commissioning processes.
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Track record of delivering cross-team initiatives with proven impact.
Expertise in using audience data to inform content strategy and editorial output.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Knowledge of TV, VOD, visualisation market, trends, and processes.
Experience growing audiences on digital platforms.
Familiarity with BBC commissioning processes and third-party partnerships.
Entrepreneurial mindset and adaptability.
Experience leading creative teams and projects.
