The post holder will use specialist knowledge and skills to support the AOS team to provide healthcare to patients who have a complex and undetermined presentation, and acutely unwell patients. The post holder will work supported by the wider team assessing the clinical situation, determining a working diagnosis, commencing initial treatment and appropriate supportive management. This includes the patients presenting with a new malignancy of unknown origin.
The post holder will work alongside the medical team maintaining good communication and collaboration between the various multidisciplinary teams and also primary care and community palliative care. Evidence‑based care will be inherent in their practice, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the clinical areas.

The Acute Oncology Team are looking for a CNS to join this dynamic multidisciplinary team. The team is evolving and developing supported by investment, the team is diverse and consists of CNS, AP’s, Physicians Associates, Medics and Admin. The team are looking for a self‑motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic, patient focused nurse with recent oncology/haematology/ specialist palliative care experience, to help us maintain the delivery of high‑quality care to patients referred to our team.
As a CNS you will ensure patients are holistically assessed and will provide supportive care to improve their cancer experience and quality of life.
You will be an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team working across the whole patient pathway. This will incorporate supporting the patient as required throughout their oncological/haematological pathway. You will be expected to work within the team as well as autonomously, prioritising and managing your caseload and time appropriately.
Full time hours over 4 or 5 days, occasional weekend working.
