Overview
The Staying Put Support Worker role is part of the Children’s Social Work service in Manchester. You will hold a caseload of Staying Put providers, work in partnership with Social Workers and Personal Advisers, attend LAC Reviews and planning meetings, provide supervision to providers, ensure health and safety standards for accommodation, support providers with appropriate financial matters, work directly with young people, and help them transition to adult life. The role is based at Etrop Court, Wythenshawe, M22 5RG with agile working available at Beehive, 40 Seymour Road, M8 5BR.
Working Hours: 17.5 hours per week. Contract Type: Permanent / Part time. Closing Date: 10 October 2025. Closing time: 11:59pm. Interview Method: Face to Face. Interview Date: 23 October 2025. Essential Car User.
Responsibilities
* Hold a caseload of Staying Put providers and work in partnership with Social Workers and Personal Advisers.
* Attend Looked After Child (LAC) Reviews and planning meetings.
* Provide supervision to Staying Put providers and ensure health and safety standards for accommodation.
* Support providers with appropriate financial arrangements.
* Engage in direct work with young people and ensure they receive high-quality support to develop independent living skills.
* Promote independence and advocate for the young people’s decisions within agreed pathway planning.
* Join a team dedicated to delivering high standards of Staying Put support.
Location details: Sixteen Plus Pathway Services, plus agile working locations as listed above.
Essential Requirements
* Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
* Experience of supporting Staying Put providers or foster carers.
* Experience of working with Young Care Leavers and understanding independence living issues and pathway planning.
* Strong communication skills with ability to build positive relationships, active listening, empathy, and understanding of adult learning.
* Ability to manage a caseload of providers.
* Skills in mediation and conflict situations.
* Experience in partnership work with Local Authority Social Workers, Leaving Care Workers, and Independent Fostering Agency SSW.
* Competence in writing reports and maintaining effective case records.
* Good organisation, time management, and willingness to work occasional late evenings.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Full driving licence and ability to drive a car.
The following are beneficial but not essential: experience of direct work within Fostering Service; supervising placements and undertaking supervision and quality assurance of placements; degree-level qualification (e.g., Social Work, Teaching, Health and Social Care, Nursing or equivalent).
