Healthcare support worker – clinical care - Ophthalmology

We have an exciting opportunity for committed and dedicated individuals to join our busy Eye Clinic at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

We are a progressive and ever developing department, which is continuously adapting to meet the needs and enhance the care provided to our patients. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team.

Ophthalmic Outpatients is based on two sites, at the NNUH and in the Central Norwich Eye Clinic, based at Grove Road Clinic in Norwich City Centre.

Our modern hospital is set just outside of the vibrant city of Norwich, in the beautiful count of Norfolk - the land of big skies, stunning beaches and rolling countryside. Our busy and evolving hospital provides care to nearly a million patients each year and our passion for research and development is supported by our close links to the Norwich Research Park and University of East Anglia.

Main duties of the job

Under the direction and supervision of the Nursing team, the successful candidates will participate as integral members of the team to help provide a quality service.

To be responsible for promoting and implementing practice conducive to the development of high-quality patient care, by providing professional support and guidance to all service users.

Job responsibilities

* Demonstrates awareness of own professional responsibilities and upholds the PRIDE values consistently.
* Practices in accordance with the code of conduct for healthcare support workers clearly articulates the purpose of the code.
* Adherence to the uniform trust policy
* To act as a role model to others; always projecting a professional image.
* Understands what is meant by duty of care and the boundaries of the HCSW Clinical care role.
* Adherence to NNUH policies consistently.
* To participate in tasks and carry out instructions of registered professionals relevant to area to support patient care e.g. collect blood for transfusion or purpose relevant to area, preparation of equipment for theatres, collecting medication from pharmacy or equipment from other clinical areas.
* To participate in audit as required.
* To develop self-awareness, building resilience, relationship building, self-care and adaptability.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* City and Guilds NVQ Level 3/ T levels/ A levels in Care/Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or significant equivalent experience


Experience

* Some previous experience in a nursing/Care Assistant role which can be demonstrated against the requirements of the role.


Skills

* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally in English
* Good numeracy and literacy skills, clear and effective reading and writing in English language
* Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence
* Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
* Able to work well in a team
* Caring and compassionate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

£25,760 to £27,476 a yearper annum, pro rata
