Job Overview
This position combines multiple skilled trade disciplines including mechanical fitting, welding, pipe fitting, and metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will be a versatile tradesperson capable of working across these complementary specialties.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Fitting
* Install, Service and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment mostly within the combustion industry
* Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
* Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
* Perform preventive maintenance and service on mechanical systems
Welding
* Perform various types of welding including MIG, TIG, and stick welding (Ideally coded welding)
* Join metal components according to specifications
* Interpret welding symbols and drawings
* Follow proper welding procedures and quality standards
Pipe Fitting
* Install, repair, and maintain piping systems
* Read and interpret piping diagrams and isometric drawings
* Calculate pipe measurements and mark cutting points
* Thread, bend, and fabricate pipes to specifications
* Test pipe systems for leaks and proper operation
* Gas Safe Qualified
* Install valves, fittings, and other piping components
Fabrication
* Create metal products from raw materials according to drawings
* Measure and mark materials for cutting and assembly
* Build structures and components to precise specifications
* Perform quality control checks on fabricated items
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
* Completed apprenticeship or equivalent experience in at least one of the listed trades (Fabrication, Pipe Fitting, Welding, Mechanical Fitting)
* Valid trade certification/license as required by local regulations
* Minimum 3-5 years experience in industrial or commercial settings
* Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications
* Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills
* Multiple trade qualifications or cross-training experience
* Knowledge of relevant safety codes and standards
* Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Physical Requirements
* Stand, walk, and work in various positions for extended periods
* Lift and carry heavy materials and equipment
* Work in confined spaces when required
* Operate power tools and equipment safely
* Work in various environmental conditions
* Wear appropriate PPE as required
Work Environment
