Are you a qualified and passionate Science Teacher looking for a role with real impact? We are seeking an inspiring educator to join a brand-new SEND Secondary School in the Redhill, Surrey.

Role Details

* Job Title: Teacher - Science
* Location: Redhill, Surrey
* Contract: Full-time, Permanent
* Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 per year (M1 - UPS1 Fringe)
* Bonus: £5,000 Welcome Bonus (for Qualified Teachers)
* Hours: 40 hours per week
o Start time: 8.15am
o Finish time: Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm, Tuesday 5.00pm, and Friday 4.00pm

Main Purpose of the Role

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs.

Key Accountabilities and Duties

* Be responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning for all pupils assigned to you, holding responsibility for their progress, welfare, and outcomes.
* Supervise the work of any support staff assigned to work with your pupils.
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work.
* Take responsibility for implementing all school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
* Provide leadership across the school in your designated subject (Science)
* Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical, and social needs of the students.
* Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Maintain and use short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
* Set, monitor, and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
* Monitor, assess, review, and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination, and funding bodies.
* Maintain knowledge through training and research and take responsibility for your own professional development.
* Develop lesson plans, analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
* Attend and contribute to all relevant meetings and maintain good lines of communication.
* Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
* Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
* Assist in the development of the curriculum offer.
* Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through presentation and personal and professional conduct.
* Take account of wider curriculum developments.
* Liaise effectively with parents/carers, outside agencies, and other professionals.
* Maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism.
* Manage a delegated budget as required.
* Work in a non-confrontational way to ensure individual needs are met.
* Appropriately manage challenging behaviours within school policy and procedures.

What We Are Looking For:

* Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
* Evidence of sound knowledge of the national curriculum.
* Knowledge, understanding, and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
* Experience in curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing students' progress.
* Good IT skills and an understanding of how IT can be used to support learning.
* Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
* Proven ability to work on your own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively, and achieve results against deadlines.
* Ability to engage pupils in positive enabling relationships.

Experience & Qualifications

* Essential: PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training. Ability to teach Science up to and including GCSE level.
* Desirable: Postgraduate diploma in Autism. Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with autism. Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs.

Requirements of the Role

* The role may require you to travel for training purposes and there is a possibility of lone working.
* Due to the location of the school, the ability to drive is desirable as public transport connections are limited.
