Overview
The Health & Safety Manager will support all aspects of Health & Safety for projects in the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) phases. The role acts as a Line Manager for a team of H&S advisors and reports to the OW UK Senior Health & Safety Manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide H&S support to projects in the O&M phase.
* Ensure implementation of safety management systems in line with BU requirements.
* Support pre-qualification and due diligence of contractor activities.
* Review safe systems of work (internal and external).
* Produce monthly H&S reporting.
* Lead or participate in accident and incident investigations and reporting.
* Ensure implementation of effective communication plans.
* Ensure emergency preparedness across projects.
* Plan, organise and direct the management of health and safety across project activities, including coordination of corrective and improvement actions.
* Chair relevant H&S meetings and committees.
* Escalate items of concern to appropriate line management.
* Collaborate with construction phase H&S Managers for efficient handover of H&S items from construction to O&M handover.
* Support the development, review and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Support OW UK Health & Safety Senior Manager in initiatives, innovations, and special projects where appropriate.
* Develop, implement, and improve project H&S management systems, including inspection and audit assurance activities.
* Ensure project legal compliance.
* Line management of O&M H&S resources.
* Develop and implement project H&S strategies, plans and supporting documents.
* Assist with development of project-specific H&S targets and objectives.
* Implement and maintain a schedule of monitoring and assurance activities.
* Identify and manage legal, stakeholder, and best-practice compliance.
* Hazard identification (risk register, design, location, role, operational, DSE, psychosocial, HAZOBS).
* Establish, communicate, and manage H&S reporting standards, data and indicators for internal and external use.
* Monitor, measure, analyse, and evaluate H&S information with heads of business units and corporate functions.
* Develop, support, and implement learning and development needs for the project.
* Ensure H&S competency requirements of all staff are understood and realised.
* Support project teams on all matters relating to H&S.
Qualifications and Experience
* Suitable qualification with demonstrable knowledge in Health and Safety.
* 5 years’ experience in a similar management role; end-to-end project lifecycle experience would be beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
* Construction (design and management) Regulations 2015.
* General knowledge areas: H&S management, permit-to-work systems, marine practices, environmental management, incident investigation, root cause analysis, quality management techniques, human factors, behavioural safety, project management, risk management, international marine legislation, safety information and knowledge management.
* Software: Excel, Visio, Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint; coaching and leadership.
Languages
The project has an international team; the working language is English. Candidates must be fluent in English (spoken and written). Other languages are highly valued.
Location
Based in Fraserburgh / Buckie predominantly, with travel domestically and internationally as required. A hybrid work-from-home/office policy is in place.
