We have an exciting opportunity for 1 fixed term appointment available for 12 months in the Stroke Medicine department. The post is full time and the post holder will not be expected to participate in the general medicine rota.
This is an excellent opportunity within the Stroke department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The appointees will be based on the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (Pirton Ward); the Stroke and General Medicine Ward (Barley). When based on the HASU, the appointee will be responsible for the care of patients who are being initially assessed and monitored for acute stroke symptoms, supported by the 7 stroke consultants and 3 trust registrars and other junior doctors.
The Stroke Ward provides care for patients who require ongoing therapy and medical intervention including rehabilitation and the appointee will continue to manage the care of these patients. Other duties include the support of the consultants with the provision of stroke thrombolysis and TIA and stroke clinic Out of hour stroke on calls including weekends is currently under discussion.
The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role.
Main duties of the job
Daily ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient management of patients, operating lists and on call.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
* Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
* Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent

* College Membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level – Part 1
Previous Experience
