About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive? Do you enjoy the variety of working across different classrooms, pathways, and learning needs? We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Interventions and Cover Lead Instructor to join our dedicated team and play a vital role in ensuring high-quality learning across the school.

This is a key position within our school, providing essential cover for teachers and teaching assistants during absences, PPA time, and other operational needs. You will deliver pre-planned lessons, support learning across classrooms, and work closely with staff to maintain a positive, safe, and inspiring environment for all pupils.

When cover is not required, you will collaborate with the SENCo to deliver targeted interventions that help pupils make meaningful progress. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, teamwork, and making a real difference every day.

What you will be doing

1. Deliver pre-planned lessons to cover teacher absence, ensuring high-quality learning continues.
2. Provide in-class support to cover teaching assistant absence across the school.
3. Manage pupil behaviour to maintain a safe, positive, and inspiring learning environment.
4. Mark completed work and upload evidence to Evidence for Learning (EfL).
5. Liaise with teaching staff regarding assessment data and evidence requirements.
6. Deliver targeted interventions for individuals or groups as directed by the SENCo.
7. Work collaboratively with teachers and TAs to support consistent, high-quality provision.
8. Contribute to a positive school community, including supporting extracurricular activities and occasional home visits.

What you will bring

We’re looking for someone who has:

9. GCSE C or equivalent required
10. A strong understanding of high-quality teaching and learning.
11. Knowledge of SEND practice and the implications for classroom provision.
12. The ability to challenge and inspire pupils to reach their full potential.
13. A commitment to equal opportunities and inclusive practice.
14. Confidence, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting learning across multiple pathways.
