Overview

Job Title: Registered Care Manager

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £42,802.07 per annum (£44,208.22 after 18 months of successful performance in the role)

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday

Location: Ash Grove, Birmingham

The difference you will make as a Registered Care Manager: You will hold a registration with the CQC and oversee the operational management and leadership of our Extra Care Service and some hybrid support to nearby services as required. You will ensure performance, quality assurance and continual improvement of services, working toward revitalising neighbourhoods and transforming lives by promoting health, independence and wellbeing of people who use services. You will oversee the delivery of a safe, caring, compassionate and outstanding service that meets CQC regulatory requirements. We are looking for candidates with experience managing CQC-regulated services, with experience of extra care. Housing experience is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will work flexibly Monday to Friday, with some weekend work as needed. As a leader, you will be a passionate, innovative, professional team player.


Responsibilities

Lead the team
* Line manage a team and create a safe environment where colleagues can talk openly and honestly.
* Clearly communicate expectations and performance targets for each service.
* Hold regular one-to-one sessions to reflect on achievements, performance and wellbeing.
* Undertake six-monthly performance reviews to guide colleagues to fulfil their potential.
* Facilitate regular team meetings to share ideas and best practice.
* Utilise reflective practice to learn from experiences.
* Recognise and acknowledge achievements of colleagues and the team.
* Build partnerships with regional colleagues and participate in wider Riverside initiatives.
* Recruit great people, identify succession opportunities and develop staff to reach their potential.
* Ensure the service is effectively resourced with a rota covering all shifts.
* Provide comprehensive induction and ongoing development for the team.
* Lead a person-centred service for customers in line with CQC standards, placing customers at the heart of everything.
Manage the service
* Ensure safety by following Riverside\'s policy framework (health & safety, safeguarding, dignity at work, GDPR, cash handling, etc.).
* Maintain and record customer information in Riverside and external IT systems, ensuring clarity, accuracy and strengths-based approaches.
* Produce reports and financial information to support contract development and delivery.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and other regulatory obligations, assess risk and implement controls.
* Take overall responsibility for housing management within the area, coordinating with asset and compliance teams on safety, voids and repairs.
* Lead the referral process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness for customers and funding authorities.
* Ensure rental income targets are met and deliver a tenancy sustainment service.
* Forecast and manage budgets for efficient resource use.
* Collaborate as part of internal and external multidisciplinary teams.
Strategy and development
* Implement and maintain a quality assurance programme to promote best practice and continuous improvement.
* Contribute to the delivery of the Corporate Plan and adapt services to changing needs.
* Implement service reviews to ensure continuous improvement and include customer views through consultation and co-production.
* Build positive relationships with stakeholders to promote Riverside as the preferred provider and enrich communities with activities.
* Participate in strategic planning and service development for growth and improvement.
Other Information
* Flexible hours to meet customer and business needs; may not include standard office hours.
* Deputise for other managers and be part of an on-call rota.
* Travel to properties within the defined area as required.
* Work in line with Riverside’s policies on health & safety, safeguarding, dignity at work, GDPR, etc., and undertake regular training for ongoing development.
* Deliver your role in line with Riverside values – “Our Riverside Way”.
* Participate in team meetings, supervision and reflective practice sessions.
* From time to time, undertake additional duties of an equivalent nature as agreed with your Line Manager.


Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Experience of managing a service for the target customer groups (older people, mental health, learning difficulties).
* Experience of communicating objectives and managing performance targets to achieve outcomes.
* Ability to identify, plan and prioritise tasks effectively.
* A team player with a caring, empathic, supportive, flexible and resilient can-do attitude.
* Competent IT skills, including databases, reporting, communications, and analysing outcomes data to drive service improvements.
* Meets the requirements of The Care Quality Commission to act as a Registered Manager. Two years’ experience in a leadership/manager role within a registered setting.
* Experience of working with and managing a service for the customer group.
Desirable
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Adults)
* Experience of being a CQC Registered Manager.
* Recognised formal care, support or housing qualification.
