Job Description – Locum Registrar in Psychiatry
Position: Locum Registrar (Specialty Doctor )

Key Requirements
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act (essential).
* Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
* Prior NHS experience in Psychiatry desirable.
* Excellent communication and team-working skills.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality psychiatric care to patients within the assigned service.
* Participate in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with mental health disorders.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure comprehensive patient care.
* Participate in Mental Health Act assessments and related legal responsibilities (for Section 12 approved doctors).
* Contribute to ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and emergency assessments as required.
* Take part in on-call rota (if applicable).
* Provide clinical leadership and supervision for junior doctors, where required.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records in line with Trust policy.
* Participate in audit, teaching, and continuing professional development (CPD).

The Locum Registrar may be placed in one or more of the following subspecialties within Psychiatry:
* General Adult Psychiatry (inpatient / community)
* Old Age Psychiatry
* Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAMHS)
* Forensic Psychiatry
* Learning Disability Psychiatry
* Addiction Psychiatry / Substance Misuse
* Liaison Psychiatry (hospital-based)
* Rehabilitation Psychiatry
* Perinatal Psychiatry
* Neuropsychiatry
Additional Information
* Contract type: Locum (full-time)
* Hours: 40 hours per week (plus on-calls if required)
* Remuneration: Competitive hourly/daily rates (in line with NHS locum pay scales)
* Accommodation/travel: May be provided or reimbursed depending on Trust policy.

Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £53.91-£85.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week
