Communications Officer

As a Communications Officer, you will support the delivery of engaging and high-quality communications for a busy highways service. You will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to create content across multiple channels, helping to share important updates with residents, local businesses and internal teams.
This role offers a varied day with opportunities to write, film and collaborate. You will build strong relationships, develop your creativity and grow your confidence in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Create engaging content for social media, web pages and internal updates
* Support the delivery of stakeholder communications to residents, businesses and local politicians
* Assist with internal communications, including newsletters, updates and staff events
* Provide communications advice to colleagues across the service
* Help manage media enquiries and draft press releases and statements
* Capture photos and video content on site to support campaigns
* Update websites and manage content across digital channels
* Contribute to communications plans and campaign activity
* Work with teams to promote projects and share key updates
* Monitor performance and use insights to improve content
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Degree in a relevant subject such as communications, marketing or journalism
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interest in creating engaging content across different channels
* Confidence building relationships and working with stakeholders
* Organised with good planning and time management skills
* Ability to stay calm and focused in a busy environment
* Collaborative approach with a proactive mindset
* Basic understanding of design or video tools such as Canva or similar
* Some awareness of using analytics to improve content performance
* Full driving licence to visit local sites
