We are delighted to invite applications for a part-time (0.8 wte) clinical psychologist to work with the Trafford Home Based Treatment team (HBTT). You will be joining a team of highly motivated individuals from a range of disciplines including nursing, psychiatry, social work and occupational therapy. The post holder will be one of the clinical leads, working closely with operational managers and team colleagues to further develop the clinical psychology role within the team, and working with MDT colleagues and with psychology services across the adult mental health acute and community pathways.
You will work as part of a well established psychology service in Trafford and have links across the Trust with colleagues in other home based treatment teams. GMMH is a research active Trust with a number of specialist research units to support a range of research activity. The successful candidate will be creative, resilient and enthusiastic about working with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide the best possible care for people under the Trafford HBTT. You will be well organised, able to prioritise your work and be able to work well with people from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.
In this fast paced team you will lead on offering assessments and evidenced based brief interventions to people in Trafford in need of intensive home based treatment. You will support the multidisciplinary team by developing formulations based on psychological theory and advise around care planning, risk assessment and discharge planning. You will lead on promoting a psychologically-informed and trauma-informed understanding of mental health crises and high-level risk issues.
Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7000 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.
We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.
Greater Manchester is one of the world's most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work. From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.
Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity.
Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.
The post-holder will be an active member of the Trafford Home Based Treatment Team, which is a multi-disciplinary team focused on supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties that are acute and severe, taking a recovery-focused approach to support people and their families and carers through a crisis, providing care and treatment interventions in the least restrictive environment and so providing an alternative to hospital admission when required and appropriate. The role of the clinical psychologist in the team is to lead on providing a psychological service to people referred to the team, and to their families and carers, including completing psychological assessments, formulations and delivering brief psychological interventions focused on a compassionate, trauma-informed and psychologically-informed perspective of the development and maintenance of the current issues. In addition to direct work with people under the care of the service, an important part of the clinical psychologists role will be to work with colleagues within the team to provide advice and support about understanding peoples difficulties and needs, informing care plans and treatment interventions. This part of the role includes providing consultation and supervision to other staff members, delivering training sessions, facilitating team formulations and/ or reflective practice groups, completing reviews of case notes, liaison with other services and staff, informal discussions and attendance at team meetings. The post-holder will play a key role in supporting the functioning of the team in order to support the recovery and well-being of people using the service. The post-holder would have close links to clinical psychologists and psychological therapists working in other acute and community services across Trafford.
