Senior/Principal Naval Architect – Commercial
Fareham/Hybrid
£75,000 - £80,000 per annum + fantastic rewards and benefits

As a Principal Naval Architect, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop suitable hull forms, undertake lightship weight analysis for vessel structure, systems, and outfit, and determine the required propulsion system to meet operational requirements using a combination of model test data and CFD methods.
Job requirements
* You will be competent in naval architecture tasks such as hull design, stability calculation, weight calculation, performance prediction, model testing, seakeeping analysis, tank plan development, and arrangement drawings.
* Experience with one or more vessel types is desirable, including Crew Transfer Vessels, Service Operations Vessels, ferries, patrol boats, workboats, etc., covering diverse hull forms such as slow & high-speed catamarans, deep-v monohulls, semi-SWATHs, SWATHs, SES, Pentamaran, and others.
* Advanced skills in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD) and specialist software like Maxsurf are preferred for producing and reviewing design information.
* You should be commercially aware, ensuring work is carried out and completed to appropriate standards and levels of detail.
* Experience in project management, supervising, and managing project teams is essential, including guiding colleagues and ensuring standards are met.
* Knowledge of relevant codes of practice, Classification Society rules, and practical vessel construction experience is desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are necessary for effective communication with customers, stakeholders, and project teams.
About You
* 5+ years of relevant experience in the marine industry
* Bachelor’s or master's degree in Naval Architecture
* Experience leading a team of Naval Architects and applying naval architecture principles practically within a design environment.

They are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Please note that travel to customer sites or meetings will be required.
