A well-established and highly respected structural engineering consultancy based in the South East is expanding and seeking experienced Associate Structural Engineers to join its growing team. About the Role This role involves a blend of site-based work and reporting, with opportunities to contribute to design, defect inspections, and expert witness cases. You’ll be supported by a close-knit team and have the option to tailor your involvement to areas that match your skills and interests. Key Responsibilities Carry out structural design work, including site visits, design calculations, drawings, and preparation of documentation for submission to head office. Undertake structural defect inspections, compile detailed reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations. (Optional) Participate in litigation-related cases, including site inspections, preparation of CPR-compliant expert witness reports, and court attendance if required. Maintain regular entries in an online diary to keep the wider team informed of availability and site commitments. Required Qualifications & Skills Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent). Strong understanding of current UK Building Regulations and structural design standards. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. Ability to produce clear, well-structured reports and technical drawings. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including image and paragraph formatting. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Desirable Attributes Experience managing or mentoring junior staff. Familiarity with CAD and structural design software. Prior involvement in litigation or expert witness work (training can be provided if required).
