Locum Veterinary Surgeon - Witney, Oxfordshire

We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal practice in Whitney for a Locum Veterinary Surgeon to provide maternity leave cover for a period of 12 months. The role has the potential to become a permanent position.
This role is full time for 5 days per week with shifts of 8 hours, along with 1 in 6 weekends with a day off in lieu. There will be 1 evening per week until 7pm where you will hold the phone and care for inpatients with support from nurses. There will be some sole charge on weekends and occasional evenings with 2 nurses to back up.
A typical day involves two 2 or 2.5-hour slots of consultations with set admin time in the middle and at the end of the shift. There is one dedicated surgery day per week.
Who are they looking for
The practice is looking for a locum who has a strong level of small animal experience. They will need to have excellent communication skills and a passion for animal care. They will be competent with majority of consultations and routine surgeries however there is also other Vets on hand to assist for any complex care cases and to teach new surgeries. The Locum will enjoy working within a team environment and will be happy to be involved in case discussions along with working closely with the nursing team.
About them
This is an established practice located in West Oxfordshire. They have one branch and have a team of 6 Vets, 10 RVNs, 1 ANA and a reception team. They are happy to boast a low staff turnover rate with many being there for some years now. Collectively the Vets have over 80 years' experience and some are certificate holders in ophthalmology and internal medicine. They are fully equipped with facilities including IDEXX machines, dental x-ray and ultrasound.
