About the Role
Every child should have the opportunity to explore Dartmoor National Park, see a play at Plymouth theatre, or spend an afternoon at Trethorne Leisure Centre. Tavistock is perfectly placed to access these activities. We ensure the children supported by Phoenix Learning and Care experience as many of these activities as possible – and we need your help.
Our children have social and emotional needs related to Autism, ADHD, or Trauma. They require good role models to help them flourish. With your support, we can make that happen. The children will have challenging days and need extra help at home, especially if overwhelmed. Your support on those days will make the good days even more special. You’ll see the positive impact of your relationships as the children grow.
Work Environment
This role involves working in a small 2-bedroom home, allowing you to build strong relationships with the team and children. Support is needed 24 hours a day, enabling you to work your full week in 2-3 days, totaling only 10 shifts per month!
Typical Day
As a Support Worker, your responsibilities include:
* Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible through activities like baking, outings, or holidays. You might ensure they have a healthy diet or take them to places like Paignton Zoo.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with various people and update plans.
* A driving license to facilitate community outings, as we provide the vehicles.
* Flexibility to sleep at the home during shifts, supporting children 24/7. This allows you to work your full week in 2-3 days.
