Job Description We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Head of Commercial to lead the development and delivery of a robust commercial strategy across Worksop College and Ranby House. This is a new and exciting opportunity to shape the Schools future by generating non-fee income through innovative use of our facilities, building strong partnerships, and delivering exceptional experiences for external clients. Working closely with academic and support staff, as well as external stakeholders, the post-holder will focus on optimising the Schools resources to increase revenue in a way that complements our educational mission. The role sits within the External Relations team and reports directly to the Director of External Relations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the ambitions of the Schools Development Plan, contributing to improvements to facilities, increased access, and the delivery of our charitable objectives. Main Responsibilities Develop and implement a long-term commercial strategy aligned with the Schools Development Plan and ethos. Act as the Schools commercial lead, contributing to discussions at a strategic level and ensuring all initiatives align with core educational values. Inform campus and capital project planning by identifying future commercial opportunities in estate usage. Identify and assess new commercial opportunities including lettings, events, partnerships, education-related services, and other revenue-generating activities. Monitor performance against strategic and financial targets, producing reports for senior leadership. Manage the use of school facilities for hire during holidays, evenings, and weekends. Oversee booking systems, client contracts, hire agreements, invoicing and insurance documentation. Coordinate effectively with Estates, Catering, Finance, IT, and other departments to ensure successful delivery of commercial activities. Build and manage strong relationships with key clients, event organisers, local businesses, and community organisations. Develop marketing and promotional materials with the Marketing team, including digital campaigns and branded collateral. Represent the School at external events, trade shows, and networking forums. Prepare business cases, income forecasts, and financial models to support proposed ventures. Monitor commercial budgets, KPIs, and profit margins, ensuring cost-efficiency and sustainability. Develop and maintain pricing structures, concession policies, and service level agreements. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of all commercial documentation, ensuring legal compliance and brand alignment. Essential Criteria Proven experience developing and delivering commercial strategies in a facilities, service, or venue-focused environment. Experience in business development, events, lettings, or partnership management. Strong commercial acumen, including budget management and forecasting. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. Proactive, organised, and capable of working independently to drive initiatives. Strong understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management. Competence in managing bookings systems and commercial processes. Desired Criteria Experience within an independent school or education setting. Familiarity with school lettings software or CRM systems. Experience producing business cases or commercial proposals. Knowledge of charity regulation and income generation under charitable status. Understanding of digital marketing and brand management.
