About the role
Do you have a strong chemical-biology or biology background and are willing to use your skillset to study cancer epigenetics in collaboration with world leading researcher at the Institute of Cancer Research as a Research Associate? The Di Antonio research group is looking for a talented candidate with experience in Chemical Biology or Biology willing to generate novel tools to perturb the epigenome of cancer cells with high control. This position, funded by CRUK, will enable the successful candidate to work in a world leading institution and alongside world leaders in cancer biology.
What you would be doing
You will be working on a collaborative project between the Di Antonio group (Imperial) and the Magnani Group (ICR). Your main role will be to validate and further develop chemical biology tools established in the Di Antonio's group in breast cancer cell line models generated at the ICR. The overarching idea behind the project is to enable controlled manipulation of the breast cancer epigenome in order to underpin mechanisms responsible for breast cancer dormancy and awakening. Your research work will be highly diverse, spanning from basic biochemistry to cell biology and genomics. You will be generating models and tools to perturb the epigenome and validate their efficacy using genomics and bioinformatics. Additionally, you will be working alongside a cancer biologist who will be hired on the same project and mainly based at ICR with Prof Magnani. You will also be expected to more broadly contribute to the research portfolio of the Di Antonio group.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive researcher who is willing to work on a highly multidisciplinary project. The ideal candidate has a PhD in biology or chemical biology and relevant experience in biochemistry OR cell biology OR genomics. We are looking particularly to motivated candidates that are willing to establish independence and can lead and drive collaborative projects. The ideal candidate will have substantial practical experience in either chemical-biology OR cell biology OR genomics. We are also looking for candidates motivated to establish financial independence and we are expecting you to actively apply for funding (in the form of fellowships) during the post.
