About the role


The Department of Chemical Engineering welcomes applications for the post of Analytical Services Technician.


What you would be doing


The postholder will assist the Head of Analytical Services and their team in delivering the day-to-day operations of the Analytical Services Laboratory (ASL) in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The postholder will be part of the team employed in the ASL and carry out a range of specialist technical support tasks and provide training for a range of instruments hosted in the ASL to staff and students.


What we are looking for

* BSc, BTech (or equivalent), with completion of a recognised laboratory technician training scheme.
* Proven experience in collecting, processing, interpreting and presenting data obtained from laboratory equipment
* Basic knowledge of the wide range of analytical equipment and proven experience in operating at least some of the techniques (e.g. HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, DSC, gas sorption analysis)
* You must have good interpersonal and communication skills
* Knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health & Safety regulations and procedures
* Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of workplace safety is desirable and experience within the Higher Education sector is preferred.
