Performance and Attribution Analyst, Investment Management
London, hybrid
This role sits within the Performance team and is responsible for leading and supporting projects and BAU activity across client and benchmark performance measurement, reporting, and attribution. The individual will be expected to demonstrate initiative, provide thought leadership, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and key stakeholders across the business. While the role does not carry direct supervisory responsibilities, it does require strong teamworking skills and the ability to support others.
Reporting to Head of Performance, this role has a strong focus on:
Project Delivery & Change Initiatives
* Lead from a Client Reporting perspective on the upgrade of the performance calculation tool:
* Review and sign off performance methodology.
* Review and approve test outputs ahead of go-live.
* Procure and implement a performance attribution system:
* Own the project on behalf of Client Reporting.
* Engage with vendors to ensure requirements are understood and deliverable.
* Attend and assess vendor capability sessions; provide feedback to the Steering Committee.
* Support onboarding and roll-out of additional services across the business.
* Change of Outsourced Provider:
* Ensure the accurate migration of client and benchmark performance histories.
* Sign off results to preserve the integrity of long-term track records.
* Contribute to projects through thought leadership and subject matter expertise in performance measurement and reporting.
Business as Usual (BAU) Responsibilities
* Calculate and validate client and benchmark performance returns (segregated and pooled funds) for internal and external use.
* Produce stock- and sector-level attribution analysis.
* Investigate and resolve performance and data-related queries.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports and datasets.
* Conduct peer group analysis to support client and product reporting.
* Maintain and update training materials, procedural documents, and “how-to” guides.
* Support the oversight of outsourced performance measurement.
* Collaborate across teams to build effective working relationships and provide day-to-day support to team members.
* Apply judgement in day-to-day work, with guidance from the Performance and Reporting Manager.
* Support ad hoc analysis and reporting tasks as needed.
Technical & Analytical Skills
* Strong understanding of performance measurement principles and methodologies.
* Knowledge of performance attribution, including equity and multi-asset portfolios.
* Ability to analyse and interpret complex datasets with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience of working with third-party performance systems such as FactSet, MSCI BarraOne, Lipper, or StatPro etc.
* Confident using Excel; exposure to SQL or Power BI preferred but not essential.
* Familiarity with investment instruments across all asset classes, including derivatives and FX forwards.
* Understanding of data management, governance, and quality control best practices.
* Numerate, with strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to synthesise and communicate insights.

Experience & Qualifications
* 3–4 years’ experience in a performance measurement, reporting, attribution, or similar role within an asset manager or third-party provider.
* Hands-on experience calculating client portfolio, fund, and benchmark performance, across both in-house and outsourced systems.
* Exposure to equity, fixed income, and multi-asset strategies.
* Experience with market data systems such as Bloomberg, FactSet, or Morningstar.
* Familiarity with disciplined processes and working to tight deadlines in a regulated environment.
* IMC or CIPM (preferred but not essential).
