The job holder will provide technical expertise and leadership in the design, management and delivery of key projects and schemes that enhance our networks ability to accommodate net zero aspirations and exceed our regulatory obligations. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the development of programmes of work, specifications and network designs, budget, contracts and stakeholder management. What you’ll be doing Develop close working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure that key projects/programmes are delivered efficiently, on-time and in line with the requirements of stakeholders. Providing technical support and expertise to ensure the successful delivery. Effective Project Management/Project Hygiene activities to ensure relevant stakeholders are kept abreast of progress/issues. Undertake robust network design to identify optimum solutions for the modernisation of OHL assets Manages the introduction of new solutions into the business, ensuring the needs of internal and external stakeholders are met and the resulting benefits can be tracked. Identification of opportunities to maximise the benefits delivered to the business and our customers by emerging technology/solutions, including robust cost benefit analysis. Identification of opportunities to outperform our regulatory settlement. Promotes an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities and incorporated into project designs. To develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours amongst the team through the mentoring and training of less experienced team members, graduates and trainees. Contributes to wider business activities through provision of expertise knowledge associated with the network and asset management. Responsibility for the quality and financial assurance of projects passed across for delivery within the district What you’ll bring We are looking for excellent candidates with experience ideally gained through operational, technical and commercial engineering roles within an DNO, with numerical, attention to detail, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. You will be asked to bring some detailed knowledge of network design, project management, low carbon technology, asset management techniques, production of professional reports, policies, standards, specifications etc. Working knowledge of legal and license obligations and conditions, SPEN commercial policy, purchasing, price controls, regulatory environment and legal & licence obligations would be desirable. Demonstrate agility, with the ability to produce design complex design solutions which meet the company design standards, financial constraints and satisfy stakeholders requests when called upon in a timely manner. Ability to track, record and update projects to allow effective reporting on progress across the portfolio of projects regarding 11kVand 33Kv OHL rebuild and modernisation work in SPM.
