FM Assistant - Porter
Band 2 – £25,272 per annum pro rata (£12.92 per hour)
Up to 36 hours per week – Monday to Friday – shift times to be agreed at interview.
Location: Rochford Hospital
We will provide a range of FM services (cleaning, catering, portering, bed making, laundering). The role involves performing general portering duties such as bin runs, food delivery to wards, furniture relocations, disposals, litter pick‑up in the car park, post delivery, receiving deliveries, oxygen delivery, laundry delivery, and replenishing domestic stock. You may also be asked to cover cleaning shifts if wards are short.
Main duties of the job
General Portering Tasks:
* Bin runs, food delivery to wards, furniture relocations or disposals.
* Litter picking of car park, post delivery, taking in deliveries at goods in.
* Oxygen delivery to the wards, laundry delivery.
* Replenishing of stock for domestic services.
Domestic Service Duties:
* Vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping floors; high/low dusting.
* Cleaning vertical and horizontal surfaces, mirrors, chairs, bed frames, bins, sanitary bins, toilets, sinks, baths, and showers.
* Reporting to the supervisor for any problems such as floor covering or surface damage.
* Ensuring correct colour‑coded equipment is used and is kept safe and tidy.
* Using machinery/equipment safely, reporting faults or broken equipment promptly.
* Disposal of recyclables and general/clinical waste in accordance with Trust policy.
