WSP's Ecology and Arboriculture team is large, highly experienced and friendly, and gets involved with a diverse range of projects across the UK for private and public sector clients. The team prides itself on the integrated support offered by working alongside in-house specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.
You will be involved with several projects concurrently and be a proactive member of the team. We have GIS and CAD specialists within WSP, so knowledge of these systems is not required but is an advantage. Experience of working with digital data capture devices such as tablets in the field is preferred. The Arboriculture and Forestry team and its projects are spread across the UK, so there is flexibility on location.
Responsibilities
* Site based surveys, assessments, measurements, inspections and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments.
* Collation and interpretation of arboricultural information from desk studies.
* Preparing technical reports and feasibility studies, inputting into arboricultural impact assessments and arboricultural method statements.
* Liaising with design team developing mitigation solutions.
* Data analysis and project management.
What we will be looking for | Qualifications
* Enthusiasm for arboriculture and willingness to learn
* Appropriate academic qualification in arboriculture and experience undertaking surveys
* Experience as an arboriculture consultant and/or as a local authority tree officer or similar
* Experience in undertaking arboriculture surveys using digital data capture
* Experience in inputting to and producing high quality technical arboriculture reports in support of planning applications
* The ability to work in a pragmatic team of arboricultural, landscape and environmental professionals
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and arboricultural survey methodologies
* The flexibility to travel and work away from home within the UK regularly
* A desire to develop your core arboriculture and consultancy skills
