We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) / HSE Specialist with a manufacturing background to join our multinational company based in West Yorkshire.
The HSE Manager will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing various EHS aspects including health and safety, wellbeing, legislative compliance, environmental management, fire and security, risk management, and auditing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health and Safety:
* Promote a safety culture through effective communication, employee engagement, and targeted programs.
* Ensure plant management understands the links between on-the-job and off-the-job safety, health, and related costs.
* Develop and recommend policies to establish a safe work environment.
* Educate employees on ergonomics and foster a participatory ergonomic culture.
* Identify and manage environmental risks to safeguard workforce wellbeing.
* Coordinate incident investigations and conduct health and safety inductions for new employees.
1. Wellbeing:
* Develop programs to reduce accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
* Collaborate with HR to create wellness initiatives tailored to the plant's needs.
* Manage the gym facilities, including inductions and operations.
2. Legislative Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations through training programs covering safety, hygiene, emergency planning, hazardous materials, COSHH, etc.
3. Environmental:
* Manage environmental compliance and promote waste minimization and recycling practices.
4. Plant Awareness:
* Adhere to and promote understanding of policies related to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment.
5. Reporting:
* Implement control measures, develop action plans, and prepare reports on KPIs, safety, environmental compliance, and energy management.
* Lead safety meetings and ensure accurate reporting at all levels.
6. Auditing:
* Manage internal and external audits in accordance with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
