Description The full-time starting salary is normally £34,226 per annum, with progression available in post to £37,203 per annum. (From 1 August 2025, the University will transition to a new pay structure. This role will be Grade E with the salary range of £35,331 - £38,050. Deliver a professional, effective, accurate and customer focused operational payroll administration and advisory service in line with University policy and procedure. Be accountable for elements of the process in rotation and ensure stakeholders are fully supported with processing across the payroll lifecycle. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the role holder will: Provide a high quality, responsive and accurate payroll and pensions administration and advisory service to our c.6,000 cores and temporary workforce. Work to pre-determined KPIs and be accountable and responsible for achieving these. Conduct the administration of colleagues’ pension schemes, including enrolment, contributions and liaise with all pension providers. Support compliance with all statutory requirements of PAYE and pension schemes and ensure accurate and timely reporting as required such as HM Revenue and Customs Real Time Information Carry out payroll reconciliations. Ensure all pay and expenses queries are logged, responded to or referred appropriately and in a timely manner. Support year end payroll processes including the production of P60s and P11d forms Provide information and advice to colleagues to support their understanding of payroll, pensions and expenses. Comply with all GDPR and other compliance requirements, as stipulated within the department. You will be qualified to Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) Technician level or able to demonstrate a combination of qualifications, knowledge experience and skills at a comparable level, have a high level of numeracy with the ability to perform manual PAYE calculations with excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and straightforwardly. You will have strong IT skills, including payroll systems and Microsoft Office with competence in the use of Excel to provide accurate and useful management information and exceptional organisational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy, quality and attention to detail.
