Preventive Conservation Assistant – Longleat

Reporting to the Preventive Conservation Supervisor, you will preserve Longleat’s important heritage collections and ensure that Longleat House is presented to the highest possible standards. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day cleaning and care of the collections and interiors of this incredible place.
Key Duties
* Maintain cleanliness, including vacuuming visitor route floors/carpets and dusting objects using appropriate equipment and techniques.
* Be part of the Salvage Team for Longleat House, stores and exhibitions.
* Take part in the annual deep cleaning of rooms, stores and exhibitions.
* Clean staff facilities such as offices, break rooms and toilets.
* Undertake tasks as part of Longleat House’s integrated pest management programme.
Qualifications
* Interest in history, historic buildings and historic objects.
* Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
* Ability to work from ladders and tower scaffolds.
* Willingness to work in cold and dusty environments.
* Enthusiasm to learn and undertake continuing professional development.
* Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
* Required to undertake a DBS check prior to appointment.

Employment Details
Permanent 40‑hour contract, working 5 days out of 7, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays as required.
Location
Longleat, Warminster, Wiltshire.
