Responsibilities
- Lead ENT nurse clinics with the support of an HCA team
- Ensure that all patients receive optimal level of care and are referred to medical colleagues as appropriate
- Support colleagues with clinical triage
- Provide service for physical examination of the ear, nose and throat using skills in history taking, physical examination including microsuction and naso-endoscopy; use problem‑solving and clinical decision‑making to establish diagnosis and management plan
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Supply and use medications with Patient Group Directions (PGD)
- Provide counselling and health education
- Have authority to admit and discharge patients from caseload and refer to other health‑care providers
- Undertake responsibility without supervision for patient care
- Mentor, support and train other nurses and audiologists in developing and maintaining clinical skills
- Ensure that all onward referrals and discharges are completed at end of clinic
- Adhere to all operational procedures as outlined by the company (daily returns, timesheets, private mileage returns, etc.)
- Maintain high level of professionalism, customer care, and service provision
- Report all incidents and complaints in line with company policy
- Adhere to requirements of Data Protection Act
- Participate in governance activities (audits, personal development, team meetings)
- Monitor essential stocks and reorder as required
- Maintain clean and safe working environment
- Comply with ISO standards in respect of Information Security Management
- Complete local fire safety and health & safety checks as necessary including hand hygiene
- Assist in CQC preparations and inspections
Requirements
- Knowledge of clinical audits
- Experience in ENT service or willingness to learn to perform naso‑endoscopies and microsuction of the ear
- Awareness of Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles
- Up to date training in infection control, manual handling, patient transfer, and health & safety
- Ability to work in an autonomous role and make decisions
- High level of physical skills requiring precision in hand, eye, and sensory coordination
- Strong concentration
- Computer literacy with accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
- Team player, able to motivate others and deliver beyond expectations
- Flexibility to work shifts and cover at short notice if required
- Full UK Driving Licence to travel to three site locations
Experience
- At least 1–2 years post registration
- In nurse leadership preferably with a multidisciplinary team
- In ENT clinical practice
- In clinical decision making
- In supporting delivery of policy and procedures
- Ideally as an Independent Nurse Prescriber
