Production Buyer in Basildon, Essex!
Are you passionate about sourcing and developing high-quality materials for production? We're looking for a dynamic Production Buyer to join an Engineering company based in Basildon. Reporting to the Production Manager & Purchasing Manager, you'll play a key role in sourcing, developing, and purchasing materials for our production processes.

Location: Basildon, Essex
Key Responsibilities:
As a Production Buyer, you will:
* Manage a portfolio of formats/categories under the supervision of the Production Manager, from costing through to purchase order.
* Negotiate costs and agree schedules with support from the Production Manager.
* Source and develop a range of components essential for our production processes.
* Build and maintain successful working relationships with suppliers in the UK & Europe.
* Ensure quality control measures are in place and conduct regular factory audits to uphold quality standards.
* Stay updated on safety legislation and participate in relevant training and development activities.
* Collaborate with the Sales team to understand customer requirements, including schedules and packing needs.
* Coordinate with the studio to ensure specifications and artwork deadlines are met.
* Work closely with the Production Control team to manage upcoming orders, schedules, and dummy requirements.
* Place orders for dummies and verify specifications upon receipt, ensuring deadlines are met.
* Maintain accurate records in our database, including product costs, component costs, safety information, and shipping details.
* Identify and implement new procedures as needed, in collaboration with the Production Manager, and contribute ideas for system improvements.
* Lead production development and innovation projects in coordination with other departments.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Previous experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of production processes and materials sourcing.
* Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain successful supplier relationships.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
* Knowledge of safety legislation and willingness to stay updated on relevant regulations.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
* Proficiency in database management and record-keeping.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
