This Associate General Manager for Ophthalmology and Critical Care post is a key position within the Division’s management structure, responsible for operational and performance management for their services within the surgery, perioperative medicine and critical care delivered at the Whipps Cross Hospital site. The successful candidate will be an experienced manager who is confident working independently and setting their own programme of work. They will also be comfortable negotiating with and influencing a wide-range of stakeholders to ensure that the aims of Whipps Cross, Barts health and our wider network are achieved.

Essential criteria
1. Proven track record of successful operational management within a large, complex acute NHS Trust or similar organization
2. Experience managing significant service budgets and delivering financial balance- Demonstrable success leading and embedding service improvement and organisational change at specialty or Care Group level
3. Up-to-date knowledge and practical application of NHS policy drivers, system reform, and performance frameworks (e.g., RTT, cancer, access, productivity)
4. Experience managing, motivating, and developing multidisciplinary teams

5. Involvement in NHS & Private Health service development and reconfiguration- Leading capacity planning and influencing behaviours of external bodies- Experience working in a Surgery Department of an Acute NHS Trust
