Deputy Head of Department - Engineering and Manufacturing

Leeds City College have an exciting opportunity for an experienced person to join the Engineering and Manufacturing Department in the position of Deputy Head of Department. The successful candidate will lead on curriculum development and delivery, monitor and report on KPI’s, whilst promoting high quality standards across our Engineering and Manufacturing curriculum. This role supports the Head of Department strategically and maintains operational quality within the team as part of developing the department towards outstanding practices.
What You Will Do
* Working closely with the Head of Engineering and Manufacturing, you will be a dynamic and inspirational leader with a clear focus on successful outcomes and aspirational targets.
* Support the Head in strategic planning of the curriculum to meet the key priorities of the area, driving the department on its journey towards Outstanding.
* Oversee and manage the team to ensure robust and high-quality Teaching & Assessment practices.
* Encourage and nurture a culture of excellence and develop a team with industry-standard CPD.
* Apply Quality Improvement skills to ensure we meet all awarding body standards and maintain strong processes to help learners achieve their best.
* Support and drive the department in all areas of the EIF to demonstrate sustainable and positive results.
About You
* Level 5 Teaching qualification, with a Level 4 or above subject specialism in Engineering.
* Relevant up-to-date subject knowledge and recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector.
* Extensive experience, knowledge and skills to deliver a range of levels across the curriculum with active learning and differentiated teaching.
* Ability to lead activities in developing and delivering strategies to improve retention, achievement, success and attendance for groups of learners.
* Experience of supervising/managing staff to ensure high performance.
