Electrical / Control Engineer Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 Location: Cranfield Contract: Permanent Sector: Precision Engineering Role Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical / Control Engineer to take ownership of the design, specification, programming, and integration of electrical and control systems within a precision engineering environment. The successful candidate will ensure all systems meet technical standards, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements while managing delivery within time and budget constraints. Key Responsibilities: Design electrical and control systems in accordance with quality management processes, using SolidWorks Electrical or similar CAD tools. Select, specify, and source appropriate electrical and control hardware components, ensuring cost-effective supply. Ensure all electrical and control systems meet relevant regulatory and safety standards, including CE and other regional compliance directives. Maintain comprehensive design and supplier documentation across company data systems. Program PLCs, electronic drives, and motion controllers, and collaborate with software engineers on CNC and CAM integration. Oversee the build, testing, and commissioning of electrical and control systems for both new products and internal developments. Lead and coordinate CE marking and certification activities, engaging third-party assessors where necessary. Work closely with customers to define technical requirements and develop tailored engineering solutions. Represent the organisation at industry events and trade fairs as required. Promote technical knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training within the engineering team. Manage technical projects, ensuring delivery within agreed budgets and timescales. Skills & Experience Required: Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline. Proven experience in electrical and control system design, ideally within a precision engineering, automation, or machinery environment. Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent design platforms. Strong working knowledge of PLC programming, motion control, and drive systems. Familiarity with regulatory compliance, machinery directives, and CE marking. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
