About the role

Do you enjoy working with children and young people with a range of disabilities?

Do you want to make a difference to young people’s lives and support them to meet their full potential?

If so, we want to hear from you!

Our Children’s Residential Care Workers care for up to 5 children with complex disabilities who live at Rainbow Lodge. You will be involved in every aspect of the young people’s care. You will work in partnership with the young people’s parents / carers, our local special schools, social workers and our health colleagues to ensure that the young people experience the best care.

Due to the complexity of the young people’s disabilities the work can be challenging at times, but also very rewarding.

Do you have the resilience to work with children who have behaviours that challenge or complex health needs?

Can you be flexible with your working hours? This role includes working evening shifts and weekends and overnight shifts.

As a worker at Rainbow Lodge, you will be part of the Specialist Community Disability Service 0 – 24 working alongside social workers and social work resource officers to provide children with disabilities and their families the support that they need.

Children’s Residential Care Workers at Rainbow Lodge will be involved in the day-to-day care of children with disabilities, this will include undertaking personal care, promoting the children’s health, education, relationships with their family and friends. Ensuring that their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs are met and providing them with opportunities for play, leisure and learning.

You will be part of a new team at Rainbow Lodge, and we are looking for people who are enthusiastic and motivated to provide excellent care and support to ensure that the children meet their full potential, who enjoy being part of a team and who have experience of working with disabled children with complex needs.

Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Application form guidance ) and Shortlisting questions guidance as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.
