About the Role - Trainer/Assessor in Electrical Installation
Our client, a leading Further Education College, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Trainer/Assessor in Electrical Installation to join their Work-Based Learning team. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical professional to transition into education and make a real difference in developing the next generation of skilled electricians.
You'll take responsibility for managing a caseload of apprentices, providing high-quality coaching, mentoring, and training to help them achieve their apprenticeship qualifications in a timely manner. Working closely with employers and learners, you'll be the key point of contact ensuring positive relationships and successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Assessment:
1. Plan, deliver and assess training sessions at college and employer premises
2. Conduct regular progress reviews and provide constructive feedback
3. Support learners through End Point Assessment (EPA) processes
4. Develop and maintain e-portfolios for Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSB)
5. Deliver off-the-job training as part of apprenticeship requirements
Stakeholder Management:
6. Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and apprentices
7. Conduct workplace visits and assessments
8. Provide guidance on apprenticeship standards and EPA requirements
9. Act as liaison between employers and the college
Administrative Duties:
10. Interview prospective learners and assess programme suitability
11. Maintain accurate learner records and documentation
12. Complete health and safety risk assessments at employer premises
13. Register learners with appropriate awarding organizations
Essential Requirements
Qualifications:
14. Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation (or equivalent vocational qualification)
15. Level 3 TAQA or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Qualifications (A1 equivalent)
16. Current Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
17. Recent vocational experience in the electrical installation industry
18. Evidence of continuous professional development in electrical work
19. Experience of assessment within the relevant curriculum area
20. Professional experience dealing with employers
Skills & Attributes:
21. Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in electrical work
22. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
23. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required
24. Full UK driving licence with business insurance (or alternative travel arrangements)
25. Proficient IT skills and record-keeping abilities
Desirable Requirements
26. Experience working within Further Education or training environments
27. Knowledge of current vocational qualification systems
28. Experience with e-Portfolio systems
29. IOSH Managing Safely qualification
30. Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) experience
