General Manager of The Bridge Hotel Vaults/Midnight Pizza Cru, Sunderland

Are you a passionate and experienced hospitality leader ready to take the lead at a landmark venue in the heart of Sunderland? The Bridge Hotel Vaults and Midnight Pizza Cru, housed in a beautifully restored Victorian setting, are seeking a dedicated and dynamic General Manager to lead our team and elevate the experience for every guest.

What You'll Be Doing

As General Manager, you will be the driving force behind the success of The Bridge Hotel Vaults & Midnight Pizza Cru blending strategic oversight with hands-on leadership.

Your key responsibilities will include:

* Operational Excellence: Overseeing all daily operations of the pub from the cellar, bar and kitchen to guarantee seamless service and efficiency at all times.
* Team Leadership & Development: Inspiring, mentoring, and managing the team. This involves creating fair and effective staff rotas, handling training and development and performance and fostering a genuinely positive and productive work culture.
* Financial Management: Taking ownership of the pub's finances, including managing budgets, monitoring revenue and expenses, and implementing strategies to achieve challenging targets.
* Customer & Service Standards: Ensuring every customer receives an exceptional service experience. You'll manage customer feedback professionally, driving continuous improvement in our standards.
* Compliance & Safety: Maintaining strict compliance with all licensing laws and regulations. You'll also uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and hygiene across the entire venue.
* Stock & Inventory: Taking meticulous care of stock management, from accurate ordering and maintaining optimal inventory levels to minimising waste and controlling costs.
* Promotions & Events: using the pub's social media channels you will generate a buzz and revenue by organising, promoting, and executing special events and specials that appeal to the local community and visitors.
* Hands-On Management: Leading by example is crucial. You'll be a visible and active presence, assisting with day-to-day tasks, pouring drinks, and ensuring a smooth, fast service during all peak times.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have the following:

* Essential management experience: in a pub, bar, restaurant or similar hospitality setting. Experience managing both wet and dry sales is highly desirable. Knowledge of cellar management is highly desirable.
* Proven leadership skills: The ability to effectively lead, communicate with, and inspire a diverse team.
* Exceptional organisational skills: A strong track record of multitasking, effective time management, and adapting quickly to the dynamic needs of the business.
* A customer-centred approach: A proactive, problem-solving mindset focused on ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction.
* Flexibility: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as the business demands.
