Offer description

Key responsibilities

* Identifying maintenance, repairs and new jobs and assisting in the planning of work;
* Responsible for opening and closing the School, ensuring the buildings are secure;
* Carrying out method statements and risk assessments in liaison with the Estates Manager;
* Carrying out day-to-day and planned general and specific maintenance and caretaking tasks as required and directed;
* Operating plant and equipment (including grounds equipment) in a safe manner;
* Undertaking occasional security duties outside of hours, including emergency call outs;
* Assisting the Estates Manager in dealing with fire and security alarms and evacuation events;
* Undertaking any other tasks and duties of similar responsibility (appropriate training will be provided) and where necessary, deputise for other staff in their absence;
* Undertaking routine building maintenance activities and grounds maintenance tasks as designated by the Estates Manager;
* Undertaking pool duties as instructed (full training will be provided);
* Completing site checks, recording and audit tasks as required;
* Providing appropriate personal information when required, for example driving licence annual check;
* Disclosing any driving offences, convictions or restrictions and any health issues that could affect the ability to manage the facilities and commute between sites, immediately to the Estates Manager;
* Adhering to all school policies;
* Attending relevant training courses as identified and agreed, including Minibus Driver Assessment Scheme.
* Flexible approach to work to ensure the effective management of lettings;
* Promoting and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible or with whom they come into contact with and adhere to and ensure compliance with the school’s Child Protection Policy at all times.
* Carry out other associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Head or other appropriate senior member of staff.


Essential Requirements

* A clean and valid UK driving licence
* An ability and willingness to learn new processes
* Pleasant and approachable personality
* Attention to detail
* General maintenance skills
* An ability to self-motivate and organise
* Trustworthy and reliable
* An ability to communicate with a range of people
* Willingness to be flexible in the working arrangements and work at short notice if the need arises
* Initiative to plan their own work schedule
* An ability to comprehend new instructions/course information
* An ability to maintain accurate records
* Commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people


Hours of Work

* The working day will 8:30 to 18:00 Saturdays Term Time Only (inclusive of a 30-minute unpaid lunch break).


Salary

* Actual salary £5,167.00 per annum (FTE salary £25,617.00 per annum).
