Hamsterley ward are looking for an enthusiastic Mental Health Nurse to join their team.

This role includes
1. Improving the lives of those with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through delivery of excellent services to promote recovery.
2. To be compassionate in meeting the needs of patients
3. To be professionally accountable and responsible for patient care, undertaking a range of clinical/therapeutic interventions.
4. Acting as named nurse to patients
5. To facilitate the development of others with in the team and to support student nurses
6. To be responsible for the day to day running of the ward
7. To promote at all times a positive image of mental health services for other people and the wider Trust
Main duties of the job
Hamsterley ward is an acute assessment ward for people aged 65 years and older who are experiencing organic mental illness.
Main duties include:
8. Maintaining patients dignity, privacy and safety at all times. Assessing risk
9. Adhering to mental capacity and mental health act.
10. Recognising potential signs of harm and ensuring patients are safeguarded.
11. Maintaining high professional standards.
12. Delivering and planning evidenced based care in collaboration with the patient, families and wider MDT.
13. Assessing patient need and delivering appropriate and timely interventions.
14. Safe administration and storage of medicines.
The MDT team consists of medical staff, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language services, dietetics and physical health care, due to this we are able to offer a comprehensive assessment of each patient and their individual needs.
Daily MDT report outs and discussions aid the holistic approach to our care on Hamsterley ward and contribute to the effective treatment and management of each patient, whilst considering discharge planning throughout their in-patient journey.
