Job Advert Location Description
We have an excellent full time opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist on Pankhurst unit.
Priory is the UK's largest independent provider of Mental Health Services and Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence across 13 wards which include acute adult wards, Eating Disorder Service, CAMHS, Rehabilitation, Acute and PICU services. Situated on Wilmslow road with easy transport links.
Pankhurst is a 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for adult female patients, who are experiencing an acute phase of mental illness.
Pankhurst treats patients with a variety of mental illnesses, including dual diagnosis and those with a complex risk presentation. Pankhurst uses the Safe wards model to promote therapeutic relationships and reduce restrictive interventions. Furthermore, Pankhurst delivers care through work with a full MDT to offer assessment and treatment. The service works closely with the patient, their family and community teams, to achieve individualised goals and ensure discharge pathways are in place.
The teams consist of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health Nurses and experienced Healthcare Assistants who form the Multidisciplinary teams.
Job Advert Role Description
Your role will include:
Clinical:
1. Working as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT
2. Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Timely assessment of referrals along with the MDT
4. Conducting Comprehensive Assessments and Treatment Plannings with patients, external stake holders and carers.
5. Chairing MDT/CPA Meetings; Adhering to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures.
6. Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries.
7. To contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership.
8. Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings alongside giving evidence within these meetings.
9. Participate in a 1:7 non-resident second on call out of hours rota
Management:
10. Offering Clinical Leadership in collaboration with Ward Manager
11. Ensuring Ward is complaint with Organisational and Regulatory requirements
12. Attending ward governance meetings with ward manager
13. Working with organisational quality improvement (QPIs) initiatives
14. Attending Monthly governance meetings.
Academic:
15. Attending monthly Academic meetings
16. Case presentations and teaching
17. Participation in audit, research, quality improvement initiatives

Post requirements:
25. MBBS or Equivalent Medical Degree
26. MRCPsych, CCT/CESR
27. Full GMC registration with license to practice
28. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
29. Committed to continued professional development
30. Desirable to have had significant experience of inpatient mental health acute units.
31. Able to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
