Overview

At the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) we are an inclusive, dedicated organisation working to provide outstanding care to our entitled personnel.

We are seeking a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our MDT at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Stanford Hall, Loughborough. The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week.

The role involves working within DMRC to provide specialised/occupational mental health services to service personnel undergoing inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, with potential network links to Defence Community Mental Health teams (DCMHs) and Defence Medical Services.

The post holder will have extensive experience delivering manualised psychological therapy in a stepped care service.

Location: Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Stanford Hall, Stanford-on-Soar, Loughborough, LE12 5QW.

Date posted: 22 September 2025. Band 7. Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 per year (pro rata for part time). Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time.


Job Responsibilities

The Senior Mental Health Practitioner will be required to:

* Carry out robust clinical assessments and understand the occupational needs of individuals presenting to the service.
* Provide psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions to individuals and via group formats.
* Clinically supervise less experienced therapists.
* Ensure clinical outcome data is routinely entered and collated; lead in service evaluation, outcome measurement, audit and research to benefit service users.
* Provide high-quality mental health patient management, including risk and mental health assessments/treatments, and facilitate liaison between the Departments of Community Mental Health (DCMHs), the Psychological Wellbeing Service (PWS), and DMRC teams to maintain patient journey and safety.

Selection Process

The sift will be completed within 10 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed. At application you will be assessed on:

* Experience (CV): Demonstrate required skills, knowledge, experience, qualifications and memberships; provide evidence meeting the criteria; show how you meet the behaviours.
* Technical Skills: NHS Core NHSC1/NHSC2; NHS General G1/G6; NHS Health & Wellbeing HWB2/HWB7/HWB6; and others listed in the advert.
* Case study at interview will be provided 10 minutes before the interview; interview will include direct questions and clinical scenarios.

There is access to NHS pension for successful candidates. Travel expenses for the interview will not be reimbursed. Flexible/part-time requests will be considered subject to business needs. A 6-month probation period applies for new MOD Civil Service entrants. Security checks are required prior to appointment. Evidence of Hepatitis B immunity may be requested. You must meet qualifications and memberships as stated in the advert prior to applying.


Qualifications, Registrations and Experience

Essential:

* Significant experience as a psychological therapy practitioner in a stepped care service; HCPC registered and BABCP accredited (or equivalent for CBT/EMDR).
* Experience in adult community mental health.
* Experience in service and/or line management; post-qualification training in clinical supervision; interest in working with the military.

Registrations and Memberships: provide your membership registration number; include NMC, HCPC, SWE as applicable; demonstrate clinical competence in evidence-based psychological therapy with the appropriate governing body; you must be registered with the relevant professional body prior to submitting your application.

Disclosures and additional checks: Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; DBS disclosure; UK professional registration required. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken. No relocation expenses are offered; some flexible working arrangements may apply. Sponsorship under the points-based visa system is not available for this role.
